Craig Martin | Director, Aviation and Regulatory

With over three decades of experience in aviation, safety, and regulatory management, Craig is an accomplished professional who brings a wealth of expertise to his role as the Director of NW Advisory Services. His roles as Chief Operating Officer, Airline Senior Check and Training Captain, and Senior Air Transport Safety and Risk Manager have contributed to an impressive track record in operational effectiveness and safety assurance. As an Airline Check and Training Captain, Craig has shaped the operations of several organisations, facilitating the integration of Boeing 777 aircraft into the fleets of two major carriers.
Beyond airline operations, Craig served as Executive Manager of the Regulatory Oversight Division at the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), where he led the CASA Regulatory Services and Surveillance Transformation Program and was accountable for regulatory service entry control and safety surveillance activities of all certified aviation organisations operating in and to Australia. His background is built on the foundation of safety, compliance, and operational integrity.

Dan O’Donnell | Aviation and Defence

Dan is a highly skilled aviation and defence specialist whose extensive military and civilian aviation experience positions him as a key consultant at NW Advisory. His journey began when he earned a Bachelor of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of New South Wales in 2000, paving the way for a distinguished career as a professional pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Dan has excelled as a captain and instructor on a variety of military aircraft, including the Boeing 707-320, 737-700/800, FA-18 Hornet, and others. His reputation for excellence was solidified when he was awarded Dux of the 155 Central Flying School Flying Instructors Course, highlighting his dedication to aviation training and safety.

With over two decades of aviation experience, Dan has transitioned from full-time RAAF service to the civilian sector, where he currently works as an International Airline Pilot and Fighter Pilot Instructor with the RAAF. His experience as an International Captain on the Global Express further enriches his understanding of both military and civilian aviation environments. Dans holistic comprehension of the aviation landscape is supplemented by his ongoing consultancy work, specialising in areas such as Flight Training Courseware Development, Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), Aircraft Performance Analysis, and more. His technical expertise is integral to the aviation community, making him a trusted resource for pilots and organisations alike.

Over the past six years, Dan has also provided expert witness reports in aeronautical engineering and professional piloting, demonstrating his depth of knowledge and expertise in both fields. By bringing this wealth of experience to NW Advisory, Dan is uniquely positioned to enhance safety outcomes and operational efficiency in aviation and defence sectors, making him an invaluable asset for clients seeking expert advisory services.

Dr. Louise Raggett | Human Factors

Louise Raggett is an accomplished Human Factors specialist with over 20 years of diverse experience in managing human error risks within high-hazard industries, including aviation, rail, and healthcare. Her lifelong commitment to enhancing human performance in complex systems is evidenced by her extensive academic credentials, which include a PhD in Human Performance in Aviation, an MSc in Human Factors, and a BA Honours in Applied Psychology. Furthermore, Louise’s certification in executive coaching enables her to provide tailored guidance that incorporates leadership development alongside human factors principles.

In her role as a Human Factors Specialist, Louise has successfully led numerous initiatives aimed at improving human performance in aviation. Recently Louise has developed and implemented Fatigue Risk Management Programs, designed analytical tools for incident investigations and developed guidance material for integrating Human-Centred design in Road Traffic Systems.

Her previous positions, such as Senior Manager Human Factors and Safety Culture at QANTAS Group, Senior Manager of Human Factors Programs at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Lead Human Factors Professional at Transport for New South Wales, have equipped her with the skills to influence cultural change while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Through her deep understanding of human factors, she merges technical expertise with strategic insight, significantly contributing to the advancement of safety practices within the aviation sector. Louise’s commitment to professional development and her experience as a peer reviewer for the journal “Aviation Psychology and Applied Human Factors” highlights her ongoing engagement with the latest research and best practices in the field. Her ability to effectively communicate complex human factors concepts through presentations and publications further demonstrates her capabilities as a consultant at NW Advisory. Leveraging her comprehensive background in human performance across various industries, Louise is poised to deliver impactful advisory services that enhance operational safety and reduce human error in aviation organisations throughout Australia and the South Pacific.
